The series SCANTRIFIED MUSIC VIDEO presents works created through the simultaneous scanning of music videos selected from MTV’s Video of the Year (1984–2012). The project aims to deconstruct cinematic and videographic structures through manual scanning while simultaneously reassembling image information.
For the experimental setup, a flatbed scanner was placed directly on the screen of a monitor playing a music video. While the monitor displayed the moving image, the scanner continuously scanned the entire screen surface.
The scanning process was deliberately slowed through manipulation of the scanner driver, so that a single scan spanned the entire duration of the film or music video. In this way, visual strips and horizontal image continua are generated, transforming the original linear progression of the medium into fragmented, abstract structures.
The works in this series offer a new aesthetic experience of time, movement, and image information. Familiar music videos are deconstructed through the scanning process, their narrative structure and visual language transformed. This creates a tension between the familiar and the unfamiliar, in which cinematic content is visually abstracted and simultaneously re-experienced in its materiality.

Die Serie SCANTRIFIED MUSIC VIDEO präsentiert Arbeiten, die beim simultanen Einscannen einzelner Filme aus der Liste erfolgreicher Filme (2011) oder von Musikvideos aus der Auswahl MTV’s Video of the Year (1984–2012) entstanden sind. Ziel der Arbeit ist die Dekonstruktion von filmischen und videographischen Strukturen durch manuelles Scannen und die gleichzeitige Neuassemblierung von Bildinformationen.
Für den experimentellen Versuchsaufbau wurde ein Flachbett-Scanner direkt auf die Bildfläche eines Monitors gelegt, auf dem der jeweilige Film oder das Musikvideo abgespielt wurde (z. B. Titanic). Während der Monitor das bewegte Bild zeigte, tastete der Scanner die gesamte Bildschirmfläche ab.
Der Scanvorgang wurde durch gezielte Manipulation des Scanner-Treibers verlangsamt, sodass ein einzelner Scan die gesamte Länge des jeweiligen Films oder Musikvideos einnahm. Auf diese Weise entstehen visuelle Streifen und horizontale Bildkontinua, die den ursprünglichen linearen Ablauf des Mediums in fragmentierte, abstrakte Strukturen überführen.
Die Arbeiten der Serie eröffnen eine neue ästhetische Erfahrung von Zeit, Bewegung und Bildinformation. Bekannte Filme und Musikvideos werden durch das Scanverfahren dekonstruiert, ihre narrative Struktur und Bildsprache transformiert. Dadurch entsteht ein Spannungsfeld zwischen Vertrautem und Fremdem, in dem filmische und musikalische Inhalte visuell abstrahiert und gleichzeitig in ihrer Länge, Rhythmik und Materialität neu erfahrbar werden.
