The video SCANTRIFIED MOVIE: SCANNERS III shows the results of sequential scanning the movie „Scanners III: The Takeover“ (1992, Christian Duguay).
For the experimental setup, a scanner was laying on the screen of a 90° tilted monitor. With mouse-clicks the film and the scanner were started. The scanner was scanning the screen of the monitor while the film „Scanners III: The Takeover“ was playing. When the scanner moved back to start-position the film was stopped so that no picture got lost. This process was repeated until the whole film „Scanners III: The Takeover“ was scanned.
With a running time of 97 minutes 522 images arose. These images are turned to a video and are animated as a band moving from right to the left. The video SCANTRIFIED MOVIE: SCANNERS III has almost the same length as the scanned movie „Scanners III: The Takeover“. The original sound of „Scanners III: The Takeover“ is transformed trough a synthesizer into atmospheric sounds and added to the video SCANTRIFIED MOVIE: SCANNERS III.

Das Video SCANTRIFIED MOVIE: SCANNERS III zeigt die Ergebnisse, die beim sequenziellen Einscannen des Filmes „Scanners III“ (1992, Christian Duguay) entstanden sind.
Im technischen Aufbau lag ein Scanner auf der Bildfläche eines um 90° gekippten Monitors auf. Mittels Maus-Klicks wurde gleichzeitig der Film und der Scan-Vorgang gestartet. Der Scanner tastete die Bildfläche des Monitors ab, während dieser den Film „Scanners III“ wiedergab. Sobald der Scanner sich wieder in Startposition zurückzog, wurde der Film angehalten, um möglichst kein Bild zu verlieren. Dieser Prozess wurde so lange wiederholt, bis der komplette Film „Scanners III“ eingescannt war.
Bei einer Filmlänge von 97 Minuten entstanden auf diese Weise 522 Bilder. Diese Einzelbilder wurden wiederum, als Band von rechts nach links laufend animiert, filmisch dargestellt. Das Video SCANTRIFIED MOVIE: SCANNERS III hat fast die gleiche Länge hat wie der eingescannte Film „Scanners III“. Der Original-Ton des Filmes „Scanners III“ wurde mit Hilfe von Synthesizern in atmosphärische Klänge umgewandelt und dem Video hinzugefügt.
